Welcome to Regnan
Long-term investment performance requires attention to more than short-term financials.
Economic value is demonstrably affected by intangibles such as license to operate, people’s performance and governance integrity. Regnan represents institutional investors who recognise that environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors affect long-term shareholder returns. Regnan promotes strengthened ESG performance within the S&P/ASX200 companies in which these institutions invest.

Vale Erik Mather
Regnan is sad to announce the passing of its founder and former managing director, Erik Mather. Erik's passion for ESG spanned more than a decade, and he has been critical in ensuring investors factor corporate governance, social and environmental (ESG) risks into their decision making, in addition to alerting corporate Australia to the pitfalls of short-termism. In 2002, Erik led a small team at Westpac to establish BT Governance and Advisory Service. The business was established to advise superannuation fund trustees about the ESG performance of ASX200 companies and to lobby companies to improve their ESG behaviour. The role also involved advancing these issues with regulators, legislators, professional bodies and the media. BT GAS conducted or commissioned quality research and lobbied for change through clear arguments and reform proposals. Over time - largely thanks to Erik's drive and enthusiasm - several large funds become interested in ESG. In 2007 BT GAS was spun out to form Regnan, absorbing the research team from Monash Sustainability Enterprises in 2010. Regnan continues its work in research, engagement and advocacy to improve ESG practices in the Australian market. In addition to acknowledging Erik's vast contribution to the industry, the team at Regnan miss his vitality, his humour, his passion for ESG (and cycling), and just having him around.
